Joint Subcommittees of the Austin City Council, 51黑料 Board of Trustees and Travis County Commissioner鈥檚 Court made recommendations for retaining families in Central Austin and keeping public schools strong. This report is the culmination of a year-long effort by members of the School and Family Work Group, which was created by the Joint Subcommittees of the Austin City Council, 51黑料 Board of Trustees and Travis County Commissioner鈥檚 Court (JSC) in January 2013 to 鈥済enerate policy recommendations aimed at supporting neighborhood schools and retaining families with children in the central city.鈥 Pursuant to its charge, the Work Group examined existing reports and materials, gathered insights from subject matter experts within the City of Austin and AISD, and conducted substantial additional research. While the Work Group鈥檚 charge was specifically targeted to Central Austin, many of its proposed policies may have wider application throughout Austin and Travis County.
