AISD is proud of our Zero Waste habits! Learn more on our Zero Waste and Procurement web page and check out with sorting signs, guides, and resources for teachers, students, and staff. Schools can also visit the Texas Disposal Systems EcoAcademy page to view their compost and recycling data (Username: austin, Password: AISD).

Visit the Austin Creative Reuse Materials Mobile on April 6th
Visit the on April 6th from 2-5PM at Harris Elementary School to “shop” for high quality, new and gently used classroom supplies at no cost to Austin-area educators who attend, with an optional suggested donation. Looking to donate supplies? Please bring any new or gently used classroom items that you do not use in your classroom so they can find new homes! You can also visit at their central second-hand shop for classroom materials at any time! You can also contribute to their mission by donating unneeded supplies or volunteering at their shop.

Request a compost, recycle, and landfill waste sorting training
Did you know that 90% of the materials we throw away can be recycled or composted?! Fill out the to request interactive waste-sorting trainings for your class, school, or department, provided by AISD’s partner in zero waste, Texas Disposal Systems. You can also for your school. Together, we can help AISD meet its goal of keeping 90% of our waste out of the landfill by 2040.

Keep Austin Beautiful with activities for school and home
Looking for a green lesson to add to your classroom? Check out the free Activity Kits, like the with lesson plans and materials for an activity with approximately 30 youth. These kits are a great add-on for sustainability lessons, perfect for use with a substitute teacher, and work well with non-traditional learning and youth groups. The resources, including digital toolkits, are perfect for providing hands-on activities close to home and around your neighborhood.

Volunteer at a Keep Austin Beautiful Day at an AISD Campus!
Join Keep Austin Beautiful and thousands of other volunteers for an incredible day of community service throughout the Greater Austin Area in honor of Earth Month! Sign up to volunteer at one of the AISD campuses hosting a KAB Day:

Be a Love ATX school!
The citywide Love ATX education campaign encourages all Austinites to recycle, compost, and reduce litter every day. Your school can participate by: Sharing the with your school community, showcasing the Love ATX message on your school marquee, and participating in a litter cleanup. or contact education@keepaustinbeautiful.org to get involved.
